Guest Post Policy
Rock Climbing UK is an online rock climbing magazine, written by UK climbers for UK climbers.
Come and write for us!
If you have something to say about rock climbing—through the mediums of words, images, video or audio—drop us a line. We would love to have you on board.
What sort of content do we need?
We want content that will be interesting or useful for UK rock climbers. We’d love to have you write any of the following for us:
- Crag and route reviews
- Climbing book or equipment reviews
- Climbing techniques
- Climbing knots
However, do please get in touch with me, Gareth Hanson, gareth(at)rockclimbinguk.co.uk, if you want to have a chat about ideas for content, or have any questions.
“But I’ve got nothing to say!”
Heh heh… we used to think that too, until we got started! Seriously, once you get started, you’ll be amazed at how much you have to say.
You don’t have to be an expert—sure, we very much welcome expert opinion, but a beginner’s perspective is often really valuable to folks just getting started climbing too.
How do I get started?
To get involved, simply email me, Gareth Hanson: gareth(at)rockclimbinguk.co.uk. I’d love to discuss your ideas and answer any questions you might have.
What format should my articles be in?
We’re not super strict about a specific format for submissions. Having said that, here are some guidelines to give you an idea:
- Plain text format is best (.txt) though we’ll accept simple HTML and Word format too.
- Provide us with a short author bio. Let us know the URL to your website plus your Twitter account (if you have one). Have a look at the end of any of our articles on this site for the sort of thing we’re after.
- Please don’t link to your own website within the article body itself, unless it’s necessary and/or appropriate.
- We allow ONE affiliate link per article. This CAN appear within the article body itself. Affiliate links are NOT allowed in your author bio box.
- You can link to any other external sources you like within the article body, so long as they are appropriate to the article.
- Please provide an image for your post if you can—images make posts look pretty. No need to compress or resize beforehand, we can handle that. If you don’t have an image, it’s no problem.
- It goes without saying, but PLEASE make sure your content is original to you and is not posted elsewhere. Plagiarism or duplicate content will lead to a swift kicking (not really, but we will tell your mum though).
- We do reserve the right to edit or amend submitted content without explanation, to fit the site’s needs.
What are you waiting for?!
Get stuck in and write some content for us! To submit content, or just throw around some ideas, email me, Gareth Hanson: gareth(at)rockclimbinguk.co.uk. Looking forward to hearing from you.
