Cracking session at Almscliff last night
  • Had my second ever outdoor bouldering session last night. First was the other week at Caley. I know, I know climbing for 2 - 3 years and only just started bouldering outdoors. It's just that I've always stuck to trad (never occured to me until this year that bouldering could massively improve my trad performance).

Actually got on alright at Almscliffe. I was expecting to fail miserably, but I actually managed a few ticks. My mate Rob has written up a report of the evening, with pictures. I'll publish to RCUK next week.

Well done pal, you did really well. Almscliff is a tough place to start. Bouldering can only improve your climbing.
  • Cheers Rob,

Looking forward to another bash next week!
  • I'm buying a "family" mat for our weekend outings to Burbage. Mainly to be used for sitting and eating cake & coffee on but also to catch the odd falling 3 year old, and maybe me if I'm feeling braver than an easy traverse. Been looking at the Alpkit Phud (I think that's the name). Any views? (Should I start a new "kit" discussion?!)
  • Wish I had a mat now. More expense!

Deffo start a new thread to see if anyone has tried that model.

    See you soon.
